Is a radiant barrier the right tool?

Insulated attic space with wooden beams and skylights

A radiant barrier addresses radiant heat transfer within a suitable assembly. It does not replace all insulation, air sealing, ventilation, or HVAC decisions. State the proposed product and installation area so we can review service fit.

Placement changes performance

The product needs the documented orientation and adjacent air space. Roof deck or rafter conditions,
attic access, dust, moisture, ventilation, existing insulation, ducts, wiring, and other equipment can affect
feasibility and installation. Product instructions govern the final assembly.

What to share

Provide property type and use, attic or roof configuration, current insulation, ventilation, access, moisture history, HVAC or duct location, any selected product, and safe photos. State the comfort problem or project goal rather than assuming one material is the answer.

Does radiant barrier replace insulation?

No. It serves a different function. The existing insulation, air leakage, ventilation, roof assembly, HVAC,
and building use still need review.
Describe the attic or roof assembly, current insulation, access, and project goal.
