Blown-In Insulation

Decide whether to add, remove, or replace blown-in insulation after reviewing the existing material, attic access, moisture, contamination, ventilation, roof leaks, and air leakage.

All Services

Is this the insulation service you need?

Blown-in material may suit accessible attic or cavity conditions where the product and assembly support it. The first decision is whether existing insulation can remain or whether moisture, pests, contamination, damage, or other work requires removal.

Add, remove, or replace?

Adding material may not solve air leakage, blocked ventilation, wet insulation, unsafe clearances, or
damaged areas. A practical review considers depth and distribution, access, attic pathways, recessed
fixtures and other heat sources, ducts, ventilation, roof leaks, prior work, and the exact product.

What to share

Send the property type and use, area involved, current insulation if known, comfort concerns, moisture or
pest history, roof leaks, HVAC or duct location, access information, and safe photos. Note whether other
attic work is planned.

Can new insulation go over old insulation?

Sometimes. Existing material must be dry, suitable to remain, and compatible with the proposed
assembly. Moisture, contamination, unsafe conditions, or needed repairs may require removal first.
Share the attic or cavity condition, current material, access, and known moisture history.
